BREEDING REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR FEMALE
If you are planning to breed your female German Shepherd dog to our German Shepherd studs, please call me before she is in season/heat so we can talk and go over the details.
1.You must test your female for Canine Brucellosis ( Brucella )..If she has Brucella, maybe she will get pregnant, but abort the puppies before delivering ,possibly dying as well and will infect my male german shepherd stud and make him sterile for life. Even if she has never been bred, she can still contract this serious disease ( by contaminated pee ). This test can be done 2 weeks prior or on her first day of heat ( bleeding ), results take one day.
2.You must test your female for bacterias ( Cervical Culture and Sensitivity ): This test can be done a couple of weeks before her heat, but no later than her first day of heat ( bleeding ) , as this test result takes about 3-5 days, and if there is a bacteria, she has to be treated with antibiotics for at least a week.
It has to be CERVICAL ( all the way inside the Uterus ) not vaginal; many vets do a vaginal smear or Cytology, this does not tell us what is inside the uterus, where the embrios will develop; This is very important so she can get pregnant. Many vets don't know about this or don't understand it.
These tests ( 1 & 2 ) will help her with conception and to avoid loosing the litter for complications due to infections and protect my stud from contracting and spreading diseases . There are " irresponsible breeders " that do not require the tests, so that means their stud can get a disease from a female and keep spreading it around, specially to yours.
**You must show proof in your paperwork from the vet that the tests were done to the female in question ( ask vet to put her name, tatoo and microchip # in tests results or receipt). *** Call or email me for exceptions ****
3.You must test your female for Progesterone levels, around the 6th - 11th day after she started bleeding ( it will tell us exactly when to breed her for a better conception rate and bigger litter of German Shepherd puppies ).
BUT **Ask the vet to check for "cornification or cornified cells" before doing progesterone; If there is no cornification seen in the smear,do not do the Progesterone, as you will have to re-test.
WE recommend you to use IDEXX Labs, for most accurate/faster readings 1-800-551-0998..Just Tell your vet to send it to IDEXX labs.
4.All tests and payment have to be brought BEFORE BREEDING. If dogs do not tie at all, your money will be given back. *An outside tie is consider a tie unless you let me know before hand.
5. After the whelping, contact us to give you the proper information to register the litter. If all tests are done properly and your female doesn't get pregnant,we will breed her on her next heat at no extra charge. You must bring your female to us around a week before whelping to verify she is not pregnant ( local customers ) or send a video and/or a vet's certificate of x-rays or ultrasound where the female is identified, otherwise we consider her pregnant. You will see our stud's sperm from your female after the breeding. If she doesn't get pregnant for reasons other than the breeding ( flying her within 10-20 days or after breeding, no progesterone test done ,no culture done, etc ) This is your responsibility and a different breeding will have to be scheduled.
6. Your female will be bred TWICE.( if she is receptive ) Sometimes after 1 breeding, the female tightens up or is not receptive, obviously there is nothing we can do about that. If you do everything I ask, she will get pregnant with 1 breeding; many times we have experienced 10 pups in just 1 mating.
7. Please, make a reservation for your breeding ASAP ; If you reserve, you will be first for the breeding of your female when she is ready.
8. Chilled and frozen semen ( Veterinary charges $450: to extract, prepare and ship the semen Fedex priority) can be shipped to you,and you will also receive a sperm/semen report as to the quality, so if your female does not get pregnant will be due to your vet not timing her properly or doing the proper testing; Make sure you know your vet's qualifications when it comes to Insemination.
These are the terms to breed to our studs. Even if you do not sign this breeding contract, once you breed to our studs or receive a shipment, you acknowledge you are aware of it. Should any legal dispute arise,Miami-Dade County Courts will have jurisdiction over the matter.
